Kern Transit is excited to announce that the Students Ride Free Program is back for the 2026-2027 school year!
From July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, students can ride FREE on all Kern Transit fixed routes and Dial-A-Ride services by simply presenting a valid student ID when boarding.
This program is made possible through funding provided by the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), a statewide initiative that supports projects designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve mobility, and increase access to public transportation throughout California. Thanks to this funding, Kern Transit is able to continue providing students with safe and fare-free transportation across Kern County.
Whether you’re commuting to school, traveling to work, participating in extracurricular activities, or connecting with friends and family, Kern Transit is here to help you get where you need to go at no cost.
